Cyrus Stoner Fleck Jr. ’52


Cyrus Stoner Fleck Jr. ’52 , a lifelong resident of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 10 at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Easton High School he attended Dartmouth for two years and received his B.A. (government and law) from Lafayette College in 1952. From 1953 to 1955 he served in the Army Corps of Engineers in operations intelligence. He earned an M.B.A. from Lehigh University in 1952. He was an administrator at Lafayette from 1961 until 2005, serving for 32 years as the college’s registrar. After retiring as registrar in 1997 he became special assistant to the president, with duties that included directing Lafayette’s study-abroad program. When he retired in 2005 he received the prize Lafayette awards to administrators who made outstanding contributions to the campus community, renamed the Cyrus S. Fleck Jr. ’52 Administrator of the Year Award in his honor. He was also an active alumni volunteer and served as class president, class fund manager and class correspondent. The Fleck family has deep roots at Lafayette. He was also an active member of College Hill Presbyterian Church and served as commissioner of Hugh Moore Park and a member of the Hugh Moore Historical Park and Museums board, Northampton County board of public assistance and Northampton Country Club. In addition to his wife of 49 years, Jane, he is survived by daughters Meredith Jane and Shelby and two granddaughters.
