Clifford Hamilton Anderson ’60

Clifford Hamilton Anderson ’60 died of brain cancer on March 15, 2012, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Cliff was born in Berkeley, California on November 15, 1938. He attended Dartmouth on a U.S. Naval Scholarship and was a member of Alpha Theta. After graduation he was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock. In 1967 Cliff entered the FBI as a special agent. He spent most of his career in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was supervisor for civil rights in the state. After he retired he continued contract work with the FBI. In 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, he moved with his wife, Nancy, to San Antonio. A person of incredible kindness and integrity, Cliff loved most of all being with his family. He and Nancy took many international adventure trips, especially to his favorite place, the Tyrolean Alps. He cherished his children Michael and Kathryn, and delighted in being a grandfather to his three beloved grandchildren. Cliff had a passion for coin collecting, especially bi-metallic coins. He made many friends with similar numismatic obsessions throughout the world. He was an officer in the Worldwide Bi-Metallic Club and a member of the American Numismatic Association and the Gateway and Alamo Coin Clubs of San Antonio. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; son Michael and his wife, Donene; daughter Kathryn and her husband, Donald; grandchildren Abigail, Jackson and Carter; mother Maxine; siblings Maxine, Julie and Nelson; nieces and nephews; and his caregiver Fernando Matias.
