Carl D. Deblois

Carl D. Deblois died December 29, 2010, at his home in Miami after battling brain cancer for more than three years. Carl was born in Berlin, New Hampshire. He graduated with honors from Kennett High School in Conway, New Hampshire, in 1984. He pursued his love of engineering and liberal arts at Dartmouth and received his bachelor of science in engineering degree in 1988. He met his wife, Susan Carter ’90, at Dartmouth and they married in July 1992 on campus. After a successful tenure as vice president at Whitman Communications Group in Lebanon, New Hampshire, Carl moved with Sue to Miami in 1995 to join the technology firm his brother Dennis founded, International Data Consultants. Carl was instrumental in transforming the firm into one of Miami’s leading global consulting companies. Aside from his technology talents, Carl is remembered for his generosity and gifts for teaching and encouraging others. Carl’s many charitable efforts ranged from teaching special education to leading computer classes for Dartmouth alumni affairs to helping organizations such as David’s House in Lebanon adopt a new computer system to assisting Miami friends studying for U.S. citizenship. As The Miami Herald stated in its obituary, “Carl possessed an unparalleled talent for communicating with, teaching and loving others that showed throughout his personal and professional life.” Details for charitable donations to honor Carl’s life are listed on www.dartmouth88.org in the “In Memoriam” section.
