Anita Hum Wong ’88
Anita Hum Wong ’88 died peacefully in the arms of her husband, Lawrence, on June 15, 2010, at the Boston Center after a long battle with breast cancer. Anita came to Dartmouth from Belmont (Massachusetts) High School and was an Asian studies major, participating in an FSP in China and an LSA program in Spain. After college Anita worked as a development specialist at an early childhood intervention center in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Anita is survived by Lawrence and their 12 year-old son Justin. She will be remembered as unfailingly upbeat and good-humored. Even in declining health her grace was a genuine inspiration to many. Classmates Lori (Gontarz) Pajor, Steph (Ascoli) Tallo, Mark Nowacki, Jessica Smith, Tracy Kloeckl-Jimenez ’87, Heidi (Stowell) Nichols and Sandy Broadus Chontos were among 52 guests who enjoyed special time with Anita, celebrating her life on February 27, 2010, and Catherine Craighead Briggs, Stephanie Welsh Lewin, Barbara Morisseau, Rachel Dratch, Kilwanna Jordan ’87, Phillip Gomez ’89 and Kevin Comeau ’89 all sent well wishes. A fund in Anita’s memory was established to defray some of Justin’s future educational costs, especially since he would like to attend Dartmouth. Contributions should be made payable by check to “Pershing LLC” (the clearinghouse); in the memo portion of the check write “Anita Hum Wong Memorial Fund, Acct. #037833670”; and sent to Philip Wong, Boston Wealth and Insurance Management LLC, 275 Wyman St., Suite 150, Waltham, MA 02451.
