Alexander Warren Lansberg ’39
Alexander Warren Lansberg ’39 of South Chatham, Massachusetts, and Sarasota, Florida, died March 24. At Dartmouth Alex was business manager and saxophonist of the Green Collegians dance band and also played in the Marching Band. Graduating from Dartmouth in 1939, he earned his M.B.A. from Tuck School in 1940. In 1942 he received his certified public accountant degree from Connecticut College. In our 50th reunion book Alex wrote of his career: “Many, many years of activity as a certified public accountant and as a corporate chief financial and administrative officer.” Apparently, the first company for which he worked was Emhart Corp. At the time of our 25th reunion in 1964 Alex was executive vice president of Knox Glass Inc. and later was vice president of Standard Brands. At the time of his 1982 retirement he was vice president for finance and treasurer of the William Underwood Co. Alex retained his lifelong love of Dartmouth and was a loyal ’39er. He and wife Sylvia were regular attendees of class mini-reunions and five-year reunions, including our 70th in October 2009. He was a member of the Dartmouth clubs of Cape Cod and Sarasota and the Ivy League Club of Sarasota. Alex is survived by Sylvia, daughter Sandra, son Richard, stepdaughter Elizabeth, stepsons David and Stephen, three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Step-granddaughter Mackenzie Bohannon is in the class of 2014 at Dartmouth.
