Yngvar L.F. Hvistendahl ’54

Yngvar L.F. Hvistendahl ’54 passed away on December, 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland, from a heart attack. He had been living in La Tour de Peilz on Lake Geneva. Yngvar came to Dartmouth from Tonsberg, Norway, where he attended Tonsberg Hoyere Skole. He had sufficient high school credits to enter Dartmouth as a junior. At Dartmouth he was an economics major, an instructor with the Norwegian Club and skied and played soccer during his junior year. After Dartmouth Yngvar obtained an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and then returned to Norway, joining the family shipping company. He joined the class on several trips abroad and joined many of the class’ Florida golf outings. Yngvar is survived by his son, Yngvar ’89, and his daughter, Anne.
