Robert Royce Riggio ’54

Robert Royce Riggio ’54 passed away on October 5, 2016, in New York City. Bob came to Dartmouth from Brooklyn, New York, where he graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School. At Dartmouth Bob was a chemistry-zoology major, a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and a member of the track team. He received his M.D. from New York Medical College and then interned at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Bob was a highly respected clinician and researcher in the field of kidney transplantation. During his almost 50-year tenure at New York Presbyterian-Weil Cornell Hospital he dedicated his life to the care of patients and the science of medicine. Bob was an early member of the founding team at Weil Cornell’s Rogosin Institute for Transplantation. He served as vice president of the institute and was a professor of clinical medicine at Weil Cornell. Most recently he was a consultant to Rogosin and continued as a member of its board of governors. Bob is survived by his wife, Maureen. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher.
