Class Note 2007
May - Jun 2012
Hello all, here are a few quick updates!
Lance Labun received his Ph.D. in physics in December from the University of Arizona. His mentor was Dr. Johann Rafelski, with whom he studied quantum effects in strong electromagnetic fields. They made new insights into spontaneous decay of electromagnetic fields into electron-positron pairs, the motion of charged particles in strong fields and the characteristics of quantum vacuum fluctuations in strong fields. He will work with Dr. Rafelski for several more months, finishing projects and improving further understanding of the quantum vacuum.
Dax Tejera took the plunge and bought an apartment in New York City. Oddly enough, right when he moved in NBC started sending him around the country for the presidential election, so he’s never in it! New address is 166 E 35 St., Apt. 6F, NYC 10016.
After two years in Boston managing Android content operations for Google, Amit Padukone is moving to Dublin, Ireland, in April. He’ll be the regional manager for contact center operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, and his teams will be responsible for supporting Google’s suite of paid and free consumer products, including YouTube, Android, books, offers and Wallet. He’ll finally be better positioned to handle all the Google product questions from fellow alums that have been coming his way all these years!
Luke Antal got engaged to Athena Bogs (Tufts ’07) in February. The two met in Boston in February 2010 at a Starbucks. Luke is working at a startup in N.Y.C. and Athena is a labor and delivery nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
And don’t forget to mark the fifth-year reunion on your calendars—June 15-17!
