Class Note 2007
Issue
November-December 2023
Lots of great updates and classmates connecting during the summer months—check them out!
Vedant Mehra shared that the ’07 class is helping him greatly with his fitness and self-care! He and Matt Maccani are enjoying a monthly “get out in nature and hike” day. Recent destinations have included the Delaware Water Gap, Lehigh Gap, and a nature preserve near Princeton, New Jersey. Meanwhile, he and Charlie Guthrie hit a climbing gym in Brooklyn every Friday morning. They’d love to have other alums join—reach out if interested!
Luis Dinnella-Borrego wrote in from Florida: “My wife, MariVi, and I are celebrating the birth of our first child. Miguel Alejandro Dinnella-Borrego was born on July 1 in Miami. We are both incredibly happy and excited at this new addition to our family. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.” Congratulations, Luis!
Courtney Calise married Morgan Patterson in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom on July 22. Close friends Jenna Farleigh and husband Todd Yezefski ’04 were there to celebrate this special day with them.
Chee Brossy recently published his book, The Strings Are Lightning and Hold You In, with Tupelo Press. It is a collection of poetry that features a great blend of Chee’s Navajo roots with time spent in many other arenas, including college. He still catches highlights of Dartmouth basketball on ESPN and remembers fondly his undergrad days studying English and discovering books in the Baker stacks, a time that played a big part in his writing life.
Jessica Rawlins Smith wrote in from New York City with excitement about her new role as chief development officer at the Innocence Project, which works to free and exonerate innocent people and transform the criminal legal system to prevent wrongful conviction. In this role Jessica will be working to increase philanthropic support for its efforts nationwide. She also shared news of her recent marriage to Henri Smith. Several ’07 friends from the Dartmouth community attended their Harlem celebration, including Kristina Guild Douglass and Scott Douglass, and many others attended virtually. Congrats, Jessica!
Dan Megill wrote in from Clarkston, Georgia: After several years working in international aid, in 2019 I took an invitation from Andrew Kim ’08 to settle down outside Atlanta and become chief financial officer of Ethne Health, the nonprofit clinic he’d cofounded one year before to offer healthcare access to the local refugee population. Clarkston boasts of being ‘America’s most diverse square mile,’ and our patient population reflects that; last year we translated for 33 different languages. And being settled has allowed me the time to pursue another passion: writing science fiction books. After some skillful editing by Kelley Meck ’08, I was finally able to publish my trilogy this year. If you or your kids are looking for a galaxy-spanning story about coming of age with energy projection powers and an evil empire that wants to harness them, then you can find all three of my books—Earthburst, Outburst, and Starburst—on Amazon today.”
Moira Gallagher wrote in that she recently took Kelly (McLaughlin) Nolan’s time management class for women (“The Bright Method”) and it was transformative. Moira writes, “I can’t recommend it highly enough for other women who want to get a better handle on their time and spend more time doing the things they love! Check out Kelly’s class and her Instagram!”
