Class Note 2007
Issue
Jul - Aug 2018
Hello, ’07s!
Hangyul “Calvin” Chang and Jamie Lee tied the knot on November 11, 2017, in Taneytown, Maryland. Many Dartmouth alumni were in attendance, including Hyerim Park, Christine Lai, Eric Ma, Kevin Keung, Steven Yum, Naoko Enomoto ’05, Hyeshin Park ’06, Alisa Yamasaki ’08, Stephanie Kim ’08, Ava Guo ’09, and Yoonki Park ’09—who, she says, “is my husband’s cousin and was the best man at the wedding.” In exciting news, Sandra (Beutler) Sidi was recently accepted as a fiction contributor to the Tin House Writer’s Workshop 2018 for her work on her first novel! Michael Amico is roaming the girdled earth and moving to Berlin this summer with his partner Conrad Winslow (Julliard ’11), a composer, to begin work as a researcher at the center for the history of emotions at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. He asks any classmates who are living in Berlin or anywhere else in Germany to let him know! Nicole Cannizzaro Mahr and her husband, George, relocated back to D.C. from Philadelphia in December. Nicole started a job in the academic support and access center at American University. They bought their first place, and Nicole is more than a little jazzed about her new 10-minute walk to work. They are looking forward to reconnecting with their D.C. friends!
In other news, we again have some wonderful new additions to our Dartmouth family! Katherine Amato and her husband, Samuel, welcomed their daughter, Elena Francesca Morales, on December 28, 2017. All are doing well, and they report that big brother Alessandro (3) is doing a great job! Addie Downing Bidder and Marc Bidder (West Point ’07) welcomed their first son, Reed Frederick, into the world on April 12 in Oakland, California. Laura Flannery Masters and her husband, Colin (Ohio University ’06 and Notre Dame Law ’09), welcomed their son, Henry William Masters, to the world on March 3 in Boston. Henry is looking forward to his first New England summer! Welcome to the family, all! I hear a good lullaby goes something like “Dear Old Dartmouth.”
On a broader note, I want to give a class-wide shout out to all of the ’07s out there changing their priorities, starting over on new paths, grinding away hoping to get that big promotion, or struggling to add to their families. I know we all share and celebrate our big successes in this column and that can sometimes be intimidating, but there’s a bravery and accomplishment in what you’re doing and where you are too. You might not choose to have us see your name here, but know that we’re all in this together and all rooting for each other.
