Class Note 2007
Issue
May - Jun 2017
Happy spring, ’07s!
Dax Tejera writes, “Moving to D.C. to join ABC News as its senior producer overseeing coverage of the Trump administration. It’s been a great four years in hometown Miami helping to build Fusion and traveling the world with Jorge Ramos. I’ve gotten to work with the team at ABC (which partnered to launch Fusion) over the years, and they gave me an opportunity to cover what are fast becoming some of the most fascinating stories of our lifetimes. I’m looking forward to getting to know the stellar D.C. alumni group and being that much closer to Hanover!”
Sahiba (Sarna) Krieger announces, “My husband, Keith Krieger (Duke ’07), and I had a baby boy named Thomas Sarna Krieger on January 4!”
Sara Studebaker-Hall shares, “My husband, Zachary Hall ’06, and I are moving from Anchorage, Alaska, to Midway, Utah, in May! I’ll be taking over the local junior Nordic team as head coach of Team Soldier Hollow and Zach will be managing and coaching biathlon at the same venue (Soldier Hollow is the 2002 Olympic venue for Nordic and biathlon). We’ll be about 20 minutes from Park City and 45 from Salt Lake City, so look forward to getting to know alums in the area and welcoming anyone coming to enjoy all that Utah has to offer!”
Yuki Kondo-Shah is wrapping up her second tour as a foreign service officer at the U.S. embassy in Beijing, China, and returning to D.C. in September. Her husband, 8-month-old baby Sayuri and Yuki will be back in the district for two years before departing for her next tour in Fukuoka, Japan! She’s looking forward to catching up with old friends in America!
Dan Racic and Deborah Wassel got married this past July! Nik Nartowicz officiated in a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Quechee, Vermont. Among those in attendance were groomsmen Ray Cheng and Dave Stanek and bridesmaid Meghan Hill ’05, as well as Allison Wilson, Christina Divoll, Sri Batchu, Donny Zimmanck, Amit Padukone ’06, Corey Chu ’08, Steph Zamorano ’08 and Peter Cunningham ’04. It was an incredible day filled with laughter and love (and pie…so much pie)!
Andreas Baum and his wife, Ingrid Scholze, welcomed their first child, Astrid Elisabeth Baum (Dartmouth class of 2038?), in July 2016. Andreas is still working as a lawyer in New York City, specializing in international arbitration, including investor-state disputes. They moved to Brooklyn last year and—in true Dartmouth tradition—go cross-country skiing in Prospect Park (snow conditions permitting).
Evan Sparks enthuses, “2016 was a big year for me. I earned my Ph.D. in computer science from UC Berkeley and my wife, Katie, and I welcomed our daughter, Charlotte, to the world in June. I am currently an entrepreneur-in-residence with Amplify Partners and am planning to launch a company in the large-scale machine intelligence space. We are based in Berkeley.”
Kristina Douglass reports, “Scott Douglass and I are both doing well. I am a postdoctoral fellow in archeology at the Smithsonian and Scott is the orchestra director at St. John’s College High School in northwest D.C. We will soon be moving to State College, Pennsylvania, where I am joining Penn State’s anthropology department faculty as an assistant professor in archeology in the fall. Our son, Percy, just turned 2 and is doing all of the fun things toddlers do!”
Rachel (Bloch) Wolf and husband Michael celebrated the birth of baby girl Abigail Jacqueline on December 28, to the delight of her big sister, Eliana. “We are now in Pittsburgh working through training programs at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and welcome visitors any time.”
Hoping you’re all well.
