Class Note 2007

Happy summer, ’07s!

Deborah Wassel shares, “Dan Racic and I are engaged! We are deliriously happy and we’re looking forward to planning a very Dartmouth-centric wedding. (Credit to Nik Nartowicz for our relationship, although he and Dave Stanek like to fight about who really introduced us.)”

Danny Hundert delivers two notes: “Spreading pong far and wide. Very exciting news. If James Austin and I are both not married by age 40, we will get married.” Cameron Houser responds, “James Austin and I have the same deal for age 39, so sorry, Danny,” and adds, “Danny finished his first year at Wharton and will run his hugely popular Ajax Adventure Camp in Aspen, Colorado, this summer. James and I live in San Francisco, where we see each other (and so many fun alums!) frequently. Looking forward to 2015!”

Elizabeth Kim visited Jesse Shaw and really liked the coconut pie at that one restaurant. On May 2 Hannes Thum turned 30. Michael Sinnott has offered a $50 bounty for any classmate who can, in permanent marker, write “30” on Hannes’ forehead. Lindsay Milne (Zahradka) and Jordan Milne moved to their first house in Portland, Maine, from N.Y.C. in April. Lindsay has taken a position in the restructuring group at law firm Bernstein Shur, and Jordan is founding a distillery to produce spirits, beginning with gin and bourbon.

Sam Routhier writes, “Nate Raines graduated from Mount Sinai Medical School and is headed to Boston to start his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospitals. He also got engaged to a classmate, Emily. Meanwhile, Charlie Guthrie is also engaged. He proposed to Vicky via ukulele song on his Brooklyn rooftop and then threw a surprise party with his family and loved ones.” Yuki Kondo-Shah writes, “I was in Hanover in April with a group of Bolivian university students on an exchange to Dartmouth through my work with the U.S. State Department. It was wonderful to work with Derrick Smith, who presented on alumni affairs, and seeing Whitney Flynn and Sebastian Restrepo was a huge treat as well! My husband, Phil, and I will be moving to Beijing in September for our next Foreign Service post—visitors are always welcome!”

Finishing events in Boston and Florida, Sonia Faruqi has been speaking in the United States at universities and conferences about her upcoming book Project Animal Farm (July 2015).

Kate Davison announces, “My fiancé Seth Cohen (Wesleyan ’07) and I are excited to move back to New Hampshire this summer! Seth will be teaching physics and astronomy at St. Paul’s School and I will be teaching elementary school.”

Ione Curva married Daniel Hayden on April 18 in New Jersey. Several alums attended the celebration, including bridesmaids Susie Chung Criscimagna and Pooja Viswanath, as well as Julie Chang, Mei-Lun Quach, Nancy Zhao, Julia Bernstein, Jordan Kutcher Grant, Caitlin Wong Middleman, Lauren Hassouni, Karem Coronel, Greg Juell, Mark Criscimagna, Joe Kutney and Scott Middleman ’06.

Ali Husain will be moving to N.Y.C. at the end of June to start a fellowship in nephrology at Columbia.

Finally, Lance Labun writes, “My wife and I trekked through Nepal and the Himalayas over New Year’s, when we got to know many wonderful people. We found that Nepali have a great, unique sense of humor and a joyful outlook in life. We were personally touched to see the devastation of their homes and cultural sites by the April 25 earthquake, so we ask for them: Consider donating household items or just donate blood! Simplest place to go is your local Red Cross.”

Take care, friends!
