Class Note 2007

Issue

Sept - Oct 2010

Happy summer! I am writing to you after returning from a wonderful weekend in Hanover. Kevin Hudak, Julie Chang, Shala Byers, Esther Perman, Dave Zubricki, Jacques Hebert, Dax Tejera, Jesse Shaw, Derrick Smith. Nik Nartowicz and I participated in a phone-a-thon in late June on behalf of the Dartmouth College Fund. I’m sure you received a call, text, Facebook message or e-mail asking you to increase our class participation, and thank you to those who made a contribution. We got a lot of last-minute donors before the fiscal year ended, and I encourage you to continue to show your support now that we are in a new fiscal year. Luckily, as I caught up with those who were at the phone-a-thon they also gave me a lot of great updates about our classmates.

Adam Shaw, Chris Chan, Blair Burgreen, Louis Williams, Lauren Busby and Esther went hiking in Yosemite for Memorial Day weekend. Esther was also joined by Laura Cadogan and Meaghen Ferrick for a trip to the Olympic Peninsula, Washington.

We also continue to have many weddings and engagements. Tom Runcie will marry Laurel Clark ’06 in September. Hannah Burzynski married Casey McCullar, Tu’07, on July 4th in Hanover and the reception was held at the Hanover Inn. Bridesmaids included Kristin Lieske, Katie Amato and Maia Fedyszyn. Kristin was proposed to outside Baker by Daniel Bryan ’05 during his class reunion and she said yes! John Shellito is engaged to Hayley Bolin ’08 and Ali Levine got married to Jon Nuger at the end of June.

John Wilson will attend Wharton Business School in the fall and Zach Supalla will begin Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business

Anika Mirick and Lynn McGrath were recently featured in an Associated Press article about their volunteer work in Haiti. They were able to help transfer a 20-year-old Haitian patient (Ginel Thermosey) to a U.S. hospital, the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Florida.

Julia Bartlett has extended her stay in Turkmenistan. She is in her third year with the Peace Corps and is now a volunteer leader. She also trains local English teachers.

Jonathan Awerbuch raced the Tour of the Gila, a big bike race in New Mexico. Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, Floyd Landis and Dave Zabriskie were a few of the big names he was racing against. He got picked up by a newer team and is now moving to Boise, Idaho, to live with the team. He is taking a leave of absence from grad school at Yale to pursue a career in professional bike racing.

Finally, Alice Mathias produced a short film that won the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker’s Award. You may see it in theaters before a movie or you can check it out here: http://ccrfa.com.

I was very happy to hear about all of the exciting things that you are doing. Continue to send in your updates.

Cheers.
