Class Note 2007

Issue

May - June 2010

Hello, members of the class of 2007!

I enjoyed reading many great updates from classmates who are on exciting adventures abroad:

Oceana Castañeda got her teaching-English-as-a-foreign-language certification in November in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is now living in Mexico City. She is teaching English, giving classes for different companies around the city. She is also teaching classes for kids and teens at schools. Oceana says that she enjoys the city a lot (except for the metro at rush hour), and that she is eating lots of tacos and freshly squeezed OJ.
Shala Byers wrote to say that she, Caroline Barker and Andy Reynolds ’08 are going to South Africa for three weeks to see two World Cup games in June. While there they are taking a safari trip to Namibia.

After two years of working in New York City as a fundraising consultant for not-for-profit organizations Lisa Caldeira has accepted a position with Canadian University Service Overseas-Voluntary Service Organization. She will be spending the next two years working to promote sustainable development in a yet-to-be-determined location. When asked where she would like her placement, she said she hopes Mozambique, but anywhere without winter would do. Agreed, Lisa, especially after this year’s Snowpocalypse.

Jessica Chervin is heading back to Africa, specifically Niger, as part of her work with the Clinton Foundation. Jessica recently returned from Togo in West Africa as a Kiva Fellow.

In couples news Allie Gathany recently got engaged and Timothy Lee is now engaged to Joanne Lee ’06. Congratulations!
Finally, many ’07s wrote in to say that they were surprised to see recently married couple Michael Greene and Kerry Snow appear on The Martha Stewart Show. Martha taught Mike how to make a “one-of-a-kind bouquet” for Valentine’s Day. Watch the video and enjoy (www.marthastewart.com/article/lingerie-bouquet).

Cheers.
