Class Note 2007

Hello, ’07s!


The fifth-year reunion buzz is still in the air! I hope you’re looking forward to it. Planning is underway, so please save the date (June 15-17) and stay tuned for more details to come. As we get closer, I am also getting a lot of great updates from fellow classmates, especially many ’07 weddings.


Sarah Uhl has achieved the high honor of being selected as a Switzer Environmental Fellow by the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation. This year the Switzer Foundation awarded 20 fellowships for emerging environmental leaders who are pursuing graduate degrees and are dedicated to positive environmental change in their careers. Sarah, a master’s student at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, is focused on improving the system for protecting people and the environment from toxic chemicals. 


I am happy to announce that Tanner Glass and Emily Tracy were married on July 23, 2011, at Alderbrook Resort on the Olympic Peninsula about two hours from Seattle. Emily writes in to say, “We had 48 Dartmouth alumni in attendance including a strong showing from the Dartmouth men’s hockey team and Dartmouth women’s soccer team.” The wedding party included Dan Shribman, Grant Lewis, Whitney Douthett, Alex Fucigna, Lizzie Culvahouse and Kelly McLaughlin.


Also to report: Lizzie Culvahouse married Steve Callahan ’05 on August 20, 2011, in Keswick, Virginia. There were around 45 Dartmouth alumni in attendance and their wedding party included Mike McLaren ’05, David Gardner ’05, Mike Liddy ’05, Alex Fucigna, Whitney Douthett and Emily Tracy.


In early September Kristin Lieske married Daniel Bryan ’05 in Hanover at Rollins Chapel, followed by a reception at the Hanover Inn. Lindsey Larson and Hannah Burzynski were in the wedding party. Lindsey helped commemorate the occasion with the best gift a Dartmouth couple could ever receive while in Hanover: custom-printed pong balls! 


Katie Amato finished her fieldwork for her Ph.D. in Chiapas, Mexico. Brianna Wilkinson ’10 and Sarah Wengert ’10 both worked as her field assistants between September 2010 and July 2011. In October Katie married Samuel Morales with several ’07s in attendance. Their honeymoon was in Hawaii, where they got to see Vanessa (Cruz) Skallenas for a short visit in the Honolulu airport.


And more great news: Alex Fucigna and Ben Green are engaged! They will be getting married in August in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.


I hope we will give all of these couples the appropriate congratulations when we see them in June.
