Class Note 2007

Happy spring, ’07s!

First up, a big congratulations to Courtland Smith, who recently had three (!) novels published. Check them out on his author’s page on Amazon.com.

Deborah Wassel shares that Dan Racic was selected to start a brand-new public elementary school as principal of the Bronx Delta School, which opens this fall. Dan was selected out of hundreds of applicants, and will be one of the youngest principals in New York City!

Ansley Watson writes, “I’m engaged to be married this October in Brooklyn. And I have a new job as the way specialist at Apple and Eve in Port Washington, New York.” Double congratulations, Ansley!

Karen (Heighes) Perez and husband Juan are now parents to a sweet little girl, Cecilia Maria, who was born October 4, 2013. “We are still living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where my husband is an attorney and I work at Google. Thanks to Uncle Jimmy (James Finney) Cecilia is often dressed in a little Dartmouth onesie and can’t wait to be part of the class of 2036!”

David Waslen is in N.Y.C. now and says hello!

Trey Blincoe writes, “On Christmas night 2013 I got engaged to my fiancée, Andrea Hunter, in Raleigh, North Carolina, after having dated since July 2012. No wedding date planned before 2015 because on January 2 I officially moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, and started my new position as an associate attorney at the Wilmington office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP. It’s been a busy but exciting start to 2014 for me and hope the rest of the class is enjoying the New Year so far.”

Karsten Chu is in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, for military intelligence school. “I commissioned into the Army this last July and, since driving back from my commissioning in Seattle to my home in Pennsylvania, have become extremely fond of driving cross country. So I will embark on a fun trip, possibly through the Appalachians toward super-secret spy training and camel rides in the desert!”

Parker Fagrelius jokes, “Well, I’m not engaged to another Dartmouth alum, but the project that I managed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is going to launch from Florida this month and make its way to the International Space Station. Keep your eyes out for Optical Payload for Lasercomm Science, OPALS—lasers in space! I left the lab last year and I’m now going to UC Berkeley for a Ph.D. in physics. It’s always good to see Dartmouth alums scattered around the Bay Area!”

Tom Bonamici wrapped up his master’s in industrial design at the Pratt Institute. He’s now living in Brooklyn, doing freelance soft goods design around New York and traveling and hiking as much as possible, “including a recent trip back to Moosilauke in three feet of snow!”

Kirsten Murray sends congrats to Christine Pfeiffer, who just started a new position at Uber in Chicago!

Jaime Padgett shares, “I’m continuing to follow my passion and practice with the plaintiff’s bar here in Chicago and I’ve recently just accepted a new position as a trial lawyer with the firm Susan E. Loggans & Associates. Also, Mark your calendar for the 2007 seven-year reunion here in Chicago this summer! More details to come, but you have to be here!”

Seven beautiful years since the halcyon days of college. Here’s to many more, friends!

Cheers.
